Onther game we let slip.

When are we going to get all our better players on the field at the same time. i know its not great getting beat all the time but if we all pull together train and make ourselves available we can move up this table. This was a game we let slip again we had more possession and territory than Bryncethin but failed to win. In our back line we were disjointed with no recognised number 10 a flanker on te wing and also in the centre we were always going to struggle but these boys gave us everything and could not be faulted.

On a cold damp and dark day we kicked off and put some pressure on Bryncethin but with some poor options and dropped passes we failed to register a score. Then we gave a penalty away on half way and after some back chat to the ref he moved us on 10 meters and the Bryncethin outside half just managed to slot over the bar for a 3point lead. We attacked from the restart and won a penalty but the normally reliable Ben Evans missed from in-front of the posts. We kept up the pressure and was hit a yellow card in the opponents 22 zone when Lewis Reynolds playing on the wing attempted to intercept a pass but was judge to deliberately knock on was yellow carded. From the resulting penalty they kicked it clear for a lineout we knocked on again in the resulting lineout and from the scrum the Bryncethin outside half broke away cutback to the right and found their wing who crossed in the corner for a try which he converted, it was unlucky for us because if Lewis was on the field he may have stopped the score. Half time came with us 10 points down but not out of the game.

The second half kicked off and within a couple of minutes we again gave away a penalty which Bryn took advantage of to stretch their lead. We had a couple of penalties to cut the lead but all were missed. We then had a scrum close to the line when number 8 Steffan Williams picked up to cross for a try which Evans converted. We continued to press and with the game going into the final quarter we scored our second try by Centre Marcus Atyeo which we failed to convert. Again we kept pressing and we crossed twice only for the ref to say held up but our Captain Warlow was adamant he had grounded the ball on one of these occasions but the ref was unsighted. In the last seconds of the game we then won a penalty with time to go down the line we had time to take the lineout but elected to kick and we changed the kicker to Rhodri Thomas but he just missed by half a yard to win the game. It was a hard kick to take on and in his younger days he would have put it over.

Next weekend we are home to Banwen RFC kick off is 2-30pm lets get all behind the boys and support them and boys come on lets get there training on Thursday and give the coaches a full squad to pick from.
