Hard fought battle.

We welcomed our neighbours Nantyffyllon to Ynyscorrwg Park and the game kicked of in glorious sunshine but before the end we must have had all four season of weather. Nantyffyllon are a well drilled side and if results go their way they can get promotion as they now sit in third place in the league table. The early exchanges were even and we could have taken the lead with a long range penalty which hit the uprights by Ben Evans. Nanty then score their first try from a close range penalty taken by their busy scrum half who was a thorn in our side throught the game, which their outside half converted. We then cut the lead with a penalty from Evans. With both teams the ball some width Nanty increased their lead when the scrum half again scored a try out on the right hand side of the field which the outside half converted. We then began to put some pressure on the Nanty try line but some good defending kept us out.  Nanty scored their third try again by their scrum half from a scrum close to our line where they drove us back over the line for the scrum half to drop on the ball and again the try was converted.. Going into the final minute of the half we were unlucky not to score a try when Ryan Rowlands was held over the line and the Nanty wing was yellow carded for playing the ball on the floor.

With the second half only a minute old flyhalf Milsom crashed over under the posts for our first try which Evans converted. With the game flowing from end to end Nanty scored a good try out on the left hand touch line and again the outside half converted. With both teams giving it everything we got our second try after some pressure close to the line scrum half Jon Howells took a quick penalty and fed our skipper ex Nanty centre Nathan Down who made ground and he was driven over by his pack and Evans converted. But Nanty had the last say when they scored another try by their centre which again their outside half converted for a final score of 35pts to 17 in favour of our visitors. In the final minute young full back Evans to a bad blow to the jaw and had to leave the field.

Next weekend we are at home to Bryncoch Kick off 2-30pm all support welcome.
