On the hottest day of the year we entertained Ogmore Vale RFC in a must win game for both clubs has the battle against relegation. And i am glad to say it was Glyncorrwg who came out on top with a win by 21pts to 14. Both teams strengthened their teams with a couple of permit players. It was Ogmore who took the lead with a well worked try by their impressive backs when their left wing crossed in the corner. This set back did not deter us and after some sustained pressure when we threatened their line scrum half Jonathan Howells ripped the ball out of a tackle and crossed close to the posts for Ben Evans to convert. With two teams evenly matched we then gave away two kickable penalties which they duly took for a lead of 11pts to 7 which they held onto until half time.
At half time we made a couple of changes one at hooker and one at prop. again both teams tried to run the ball and attack at every opportunity and the referee Mr Huw David who had a fine game allowed advantage at every opportunity. we then began to get on top because our visitors only had 1 set of fresh legs. We attacked up the right and from a linocut some 10 meters out the evergreen second row Nigel Cook won a good ball and the pack rumbled over for a try by Captain of the night Steffan Williams for Evans to convert. And from the same move we increased our lead with a try this time by Steven Lewis and again Evans Converted for a lead of 21 pts to 11. Ogmore then hit back with another penalty to cut the lead to 7 points. Then from another line out we looked to have scored our 4th try again by Lewis but the referee said two movements and awarded a penalty to Ogmore who cleared for touch. The game ended soon after and it was 4 welcome points for us and 1 bonus point for Ogmore.
Saturday we travel to Rhigos kick off 2-30pm all support welcome and we look to get some points out of this game to aid of fight.
