History was made at Glyncorrwg RFC when Steve Rodney Laurance Ludlow aka CHIPS run out for his 500 th game in the colours of Glyncorrwg RFC at the tender age of 53. Congratulations to him for his service to us.
The game did not go to plan for us, We kicked off and after 5 minutes we won a series of penalties and Adrian Shearan put us into the lead. The game was evenly balanced for the first 20 minutes but Maesteg then showed the form that as put them in with a very good chance of promotion. The visitor then scored their first try under the posts which they converted. This was followed very quickly with another converted try. Then we had another setback when we lost two players to the bin for deliberate knock on the first one yes our wing was in no position to catch the ball but the second our other wing Gareth Evans charged down a kick with both hands but was shown a yellow. So down to 13 men we weathered the storm without conceding again with them off. After another Maesteg attack we had a goal line drop out but rushed it and a poor kick straight to their wing to run out wide and score for a 19 - 3 lead to out visistors.
Maesteg kicked off the second half, and we got a foothold into the Maesteg half and we were rewarded with a try by the MAN HIMSELF CHIPS when he crashed over for a try which Shearan converted, was there a comeback on the cards like our last game against Briton Ferry try as we could the answer was no Maesteg defence kept us out . With the game going into the final 10 minutes Maesteg increased their lead with two well taken tries. All the best to Maesteg on their quest for promotion.
Congrautulation again to Chips for his sterling commitment to our club.
Next week we are on the road to Briton Ferry RFC for a 2-30 kick off. All suport welcome.
