On a very cold day under the Rhigos mountain and the wind coming from the Brecon Beacons we ground out a bonus point win to warm us all up and keep us on the toes of Baglan in second place. And with Baglan coming up next and with us missing a couple of players because of the international in Cardiff it will prove a hard task. We kicked off towards Aberdare and we were soon on the score sheet when burly Centre Rhodri Milsom who caused all sorts of trouble for the Rhigos defense broke clear and with only the full back to beat a well time pass found fellow Centre Steffan Hnatiuk in the clear to run around under the posts for a fine try converted by outside half Nathan Healy. we kept on the pressure but failed to register another score but after 20 minutes Rhigos hit back with a fine try when their nippy scrum half broke down the blind from the half way and found his outside half wo crossed out wide for a good try which he converted to level the scores. This stung us into some action and after a couple of forward drives Number 8 Steffan Williams dived over for a try which went unconverted. With the fast backs of Rhigos causing us some trouble we managed to keep them at bay and after 30 minutes we crossed for our third try by Hnatiuk again after some good work from Milsom and Healy and Healy added the extras. We could not relax because even with such little ball Rhigos kept attacking at every opportunity but we kept them out. Then after some good work from our forwards second row Robert Molly Jones picked up at a ruck and dived over for the bonus point try for a score of 24 Points to 7 at half time.
With the wind now in our faces we kept attacking but with some very cold hands out there we spilled the ball a few times as did our opponents. With the game going into the last quarter Rhigos scored their second try when they worked the overlap to score out wide. Then after this we made a couple of replacements and after another good run out of defense by full back Rhodri Thomas the ball was moved along the ling to sub wing Ben Evans to cross with his first touch and Healy converted. We then switched off and missed a couple of tackles and Rhigos got another try which again went unconverted. We then stepped up and after some good work from Milsom who made ground every time he ran at the defense a last grasp ankle tap put him to ground but with the pack in close attendance it looked as if young prop Ioan Thomas would cross for his first senior try but he was stopped short and sub Hooker Neil Guff Sainsbury was on hand to cross but with Healy injured full back Thomas hit the upright to conclude our scoring. But with a couple of minutes left Rhigos scored their fourth and bonus point try which they deserved in this very open game. After this performance we cannot see how Rhigos are struggling near the bottom of the table.
