In our only third league win of the season 18 year old Keegan Tomlinson gave a stellar performance in the second row with the evergreen Nigel Cook. Nigel must be the oldest captain in over 130 years of rugby in Glyncorrwg. Within the first few minutes Lee Bevan making a rare outing as a permit player from Maesteg Quins scored a typical Bevan try when he powered trough to score at the posts for Ben Evans to convert for a 7 point lead. We should have scored soon after but the ball was dropped and kicked up field by Bryncethin. We had a couple of chances after this but to be fair to our visitors they defended well and probably shaded the half. Lee Bevan left the field at half time to be replaced by Mike Fitzpatrick and we started the second half well and began to wear down our opponents. After some pressure near the Bryncethin line we lost number 8 Steffan Williams who was making only his second appearance of the season after a long injury he was replaced by John Bevan. We then increased our lead when portly outside half Rhodri Milsom scored a try converted by Evans. we then introduced second row Steven Lewis for young Keegan who was beginning to run out of steam and with his first touch Lewis collected from a line out and his fellow forwards drove him over for an unconverted try, which became the final score of the game.Try has we did we found it hard to break down the defence of our visitors who when they won some ball played the game as it should be and moved it around well. Young Jordan Hill came on for Rhys Milsom on the wing and Ryan Tank Williams replaced Ryan Tamlin on the flank. With the light fading the game began to get a little heated, but it was a well deserved win which keeps alive our hopes of staying up in this division. Next league game at home to our close neighbours NANTYFFYLLON on Sat 16th April kick off 2-30pm all support welcome.
