Promotion no longer on the cards.

Banwen were worthy winners on the day Storm Freya hit Wales giving us a very strong wind blowing across the field but the heavy rain held off untill the final minutes. Banwen kicked off the game and we began to put some pressure on their defence but with some poor handling and discipline leaving us down we could not cross their line.  We spent most of the half attacking but only had a penalty by Nathan Healy to show for our efforts. Going into the final moment of the half and us down to 14 men for some back chat at the ref Banwen put us under pressure at a ruck when their scrum half dashed around the side but with the referee in the way of our flanker who tackled the ref in the process of trying to stop the scrum half crossed at the post when he bounced off the referee for a try and easy conversion.

In the second half it was Banwen's turn to put us under some pressure and we conceded a penalty try when we were still down to 14 men for the yellow so that was 14 points scored in that 10 minutes. But we soon hit back when after some pressure from our forwards the ball was moved along to sub Gareth Kingman who crossed for a try making his first start of the season after a shoulder injury. At this point it looked as if were would go on to win the game when after some more pressure Centre Rhodri Milsom cross for a try at the post which fellow Centre Rhodri Thomas converted to put us a point up. We soon won a penalty close to the posts but with us kicking from left to right into the cross wind it held up the ball which would normally have been a simple 3 points. Then disaster struck we again lost a player to the bin for the second time and Banwen put themselves back into the lead from the resulting penalty with only minutes left. The Banwen scored their third try to wrap up a very even contested game and stop our promotion hopes dead but theirs still live on.
