Better team on the day won.

I cannot understand how clubs that running two team cannot field a team to play us here after having good numbers the previous week. we know that you can have player's unavailable through family commitments and injuries but it always seems to happen when they travel up to player us. A couple of season's ago we went through a bad patch but we played every fixture on the due date. The penalty that the WRU impose on these clubs that call off late in the week should be looked at and maybe increased like automatic relegation no matter where they finish the season and also hit them in the core grant. Right rant over.

We would like to thank Brecon RFC for taking the fixture on Friday and agreeing to travel to Glyncorrwg. The only record i can find of playing Brecon RFC was on 30th October 1965 at Ynyscorrwg Park when we run out 11pts to nil win. And in that season we played 24 games, winning 10, lost 10, 4 drawn, also 15 games were cancelled.

After the heavy rain of the week the field was in good condition, Brecon kicked off but we were the first to attack but we could not find a way through. Brecon had some very fast and skill full backs and and 5 minutes we fell behind to a well worked try by their wing under the posts which was converted for a seven point lead.

We began to dominate the scrum and after some pressure down the right scrum half Jonathan Howells crossed for a try out wide and with no recognised kicker playing we failed to convert. The game settled down and both teams had their chances our pack was causing them some problems but we did not take our chances and their backs were always looking dangerous.

From a scrum 5 meters from the line we drove the Brecon pack over and number 8 Robert Molly Jones touched down for a try which went unconverted again. With the half coming to a close Brecon regained the lead through their left wing with a unconverted try. Half time score of 10pts to 12 in our visitors' favour.

Second half was very much the same has the first with both teams having a go at every opportunity but we could not find a way through a well drilled team.

Midway through the half Brecon then scored their third try by their flanker after some good work by their pack they won the penalty we turned our back and over crashed the flanker for a try which their outside half converted.

We then spent some time in the Brecon 22 but could not find a way through. From the last play of the game Brecon scored their third try when the centre chipped through to the line but in the act of touching down he knocked the ball on but the referee was unsighted the try was converted for a 26pts to 10 win for our visitors.

After not playing for a couple of weeks again our demons resurfaced and we were not at our best, but take nothing away from Brecon they deserved their win they are a well drilled team well coached by Ex Welsh International Andy Powell.

Next week we travel to Alltwen RFC for a league encounter where we will be looking to regain top spot in the league if results go our way. All support is welcome.
