So Near yet no progress in WRU Bowl

After two late withdrawals we had to reshuffle our starting line up after Rhodri Milsom (Hamstring) and Ryan Rowlands (Family reason's) had to drop out. In came scrum half Jonathan Howells to play in the Centre and Jamie Williams normally a Hooker on the blind side of the scrum. With Pyle putting on the early pressure we weathered the storm and began to get a foothold in the game. With pressure close to the Pyle try line scrum half Rhys Milsom made a break from a ruck and scored a fine try which Flyhalf Alun Newell converted. We then had a major set back when we lost flanker Jamie Williams with a dislocated shoulder. And within a minute of this we lost wing Scott Busher also with a dislocated shoulder as he attempted to stop the Pyle wing from going over in the corner to cut our lead to two points. Pyle then lost a back row forward with a suspected broken ankle..So with two of our  boys on their way to hospital we then lost full back Ben Evans with a pulled hamstring. Play was very good from both teams who attacked whenever possible and with the bigger Pyle forwards getting some better ball towards the end of the half from a series of scrums we then conceded a second try which was converted to give them a lead of 12pts to 7.

The second half started the same way as the first half with both teams giving everything and from a attack up the left Newell put in a little grubber kick which turned the defence and wing Josh Thomas touched down to tie up the scores but the conversion from Newell was successful from out wide to put us back into the lead. But our joy was short lived when Pyle regained the lead with a good converted try to put them up by 5 points. Then it looked as if we were going to be well beaten when we conceded a poor try in the corner which was unconverted for our host's to lead by 12 points going into the final minutes. But this Glyncorrwg side never known when they are beaten and from a flowing move down the left the ball found our flying wing Loveday who looked odds on the score was felled by a high tackle for which the referee had no hesitation in awarding a penalty try and a fortunate yellow card which i think should have been RED. From the conversion this left us 3 points behind, we then won a penalty on half way which Newell put straight between the posts to tie up the score's. After this the home team's discipline fell apart and with a minute to go their prop felled Warlow with a forearm smash which resulted in a free for all and the prop received is marching orders to a RED card. So the game ended 24 points all and Pyle go on to the next round on try count.
