We traveled to Pyle with a lot of drop outs on the day but we could have won with a bit of luck but we could also have had a heavy beating but out defense in the second half stood strong. We failed with a penalty to take a early lead and the home side punished us with a well taken try out wide by their wing. Within a minute we got on the board with a try from a line-out move which we moved the ball out wide and full back Ben Evans came into the line to score and he also kicked the conversion. But from the kick off we failed to gather the ball and Pyle again move it wide down the hill to score another try which they failed to convert. With both teams giving it everything we cut the lead with a penalty from Evans. Again from the kick off we did not secure the ball and after a couple of drive Pyle scored under the posts for a easy conversion. We then cut the lead with another Evans penalty but with the half coming to a close Pyle scored their bonus point try which they converted.
The second half could not have got off to a worst start when we gave the ball away and Pyle scored another try to go further ahead. We then made two changes up front and this added a bit of strengh. From a good attack our pack got on to a rolling maul which went some 20 yards and Pyle collapsed it 4 yards from the line and the referee had no hesitation in awarding a penalty try which Evans converted. We were now in sight of a bonus point and both teams attacked at all times but both defenses held out. With the game going into the final minute we got a roll on for the line but were held up just short. In all it has to be said that the young players that played and there were 7 at 18 years old and a couple under 22 did us proud.
Next weekend we are home to Briton Ferry who have had a mixed bag of results. Kick off is 2-30pm all support welcome.
